‘Bhakti’ is a Sanskrit word, meaning love or devotion. The Bhakti Tree is committed to helping people from all walks of life lead a happier and more fulfilled existence. We do this by promoting a healthy diet and lifestyle through a number of avenues. We have had a long history in Newcastle, first established as Hari’s café on King Street (subsequently Govinda's). The cafe found its new permanent home in our current space in Mayfield in early 2015 and "The Bhakti Tree" was born. The Bhakti Tree is the only pure vegetarian and vegan café in Newcastle, where food is prepared with Bhakti.Our various activities make up the branches of the Bhakti Tree – pure vegetarian and vegan food at our café in Mayfield or at the University of Newcastle through the student vegetarian club, yoga, kirtan (mantra-meditation), discussions on philosophy, cooking classes and catering.

so many yummy vegan options! and for so cheap too! we ordered three meals and a drink for $51 on a sunday! super filling, kept us full for hours!

The food was fantastic. I had veggie fritters with tangy tomato sauce and roasted spicy potatoes. For dessert I had blueberry cheesecake. All delicious. I can't wait to try more of the menu.

The best food I have ever had without onion and garlic — a true gem in Newcastle. Pure vegetarian meals prepared with such purity give genuine Prasad-like feelings. The ambience is peaceful, calm, and spiritually uplifting, making it a perfect place for dining. A truly divine experience.
